Arrivals
When you land at Faro Airport you will collect your baggage and go through into the arrivals hall on the ground floor. Within this area you will find the desk for the main car hire companies: Europcar, Avis, Hertz, Alamo, National, Budget, Rentauto and the local Portuguese car hire company Autojardim. You will also find a seating area and if you head upstairs a large coffee shop that serves cold drinks, snacks, beers and sandwiches. The prices in the cafe are pretty good considering it's an Airport with a coffee or tea costing around €1.75. Between April and October each year there is also a large outdoor coffee shop and viewing terrace and again you can buy a large range of drinks and snacks here. There are a mixture of stairs, lifts and escalators to help you get up to both of these levels and on each level within the arrivals area you will find toilets and baby changing facilities. These coffee shops are the ideal meeting place if you are collecting someone in the Faro Airport Arrivals hall as the area downstairs can and does get extremely busy. It is also worth noting that the arrival and departure halls at Faro Airport are both on the ground floor and you can easily walk between them. Between the halls are a number of coffee shops, a tourist information office and a Police Office. The directions for the Faro Airport taxis and the Faro Airport Buses are well sign posted and both can be found just outside the Faro Airport arrivals hall.
Departures
There are a total of 63 check in desks at Faro Airport and there is a steady flow of aircraft leaving the airport throughout the day and because of the excellent all year round weather in Faro. Within the departures hall at Faro Airport you will find a coffee shop selling tea, coffee and snacks throughout the day, a small bar, a sweet shop and a newspaper shop selling a range of International Newspapers. If you are returning a car to one of the many car hire companies at Faro Airport make sure that you read the return instructions thoroughly as they all have different arrangements. The main depots for the car hire companies are at the very far end of the Airport Terminal, past the car parks. When you get dropped off at the airport you should get out right outside the Departures terminal. If someone is driving you to the airport and wants to wave you off them tell them to head for the special Faro Airport departures car park that is opposite the terminal. If they then head down to the other end of the terminal and into the arrivals hall there are lifts and stairs to a roof top cafe and viewing point which is open between April and May. After checking in it is best to leave the main departures hall at Faro Airport and head through to the main departure lounge where there are a selection of shops.
